REPORT IMPLEMENTATION AND BROADCAST ABOUT DIABETIC RETINOPATHY PROJECT
Project Orbis International, Inc. is an international non-profit organization. Its mission is to use our amazing network of partners, supporters, staff and sector leading volunteers to empower local communities with the skills and resources necessary to fight blindness on their own. We work alongside eye teams in communities to provide training and guidance to leave a long-term eye care legacy that will restore vision for generations to come.
In Vietnam, a representative office was established in 2003 and began collaborating with Vietnam’s ophthalmic communities through hospital-based programs in 1996. Orbis has been providing the highest level of expertise to support the capacity development of the ophthalmic medical staff in different ways.
Introduction to the project “Improving the awareness on eye care for patients with diabetes in Southern Vietnam”
Vietnam is ranked in the top 10 countries with the highest rate of increase in diabetes patients in the world with an incidence rate of 5.9% (about 4-5 million people). It is expected to triple by 2040. Most people with diabetes only go for an eye check-up when they have symptoms of visual impairment, often it's too late when there is irreversible damage to the fundus.
In order to increase the public's and policy makers' access to information for an effective model in screening, detection and treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), Orbis Vietnam is looking for a qualified supplier who have enough capacity and experience to edit and broadcast reportage on the Project on national television. The report will introduce the project activities, outreach, effectiveness and impact of the DR treatment model from the community's perspective, as well as assessment from local authorities and related partners.
