Orbis is a global non-profit organization headquartered in New York that works to prevent and treat avoidable blindness through hands-on training, public health education, and improved access to quality eye care, through partnerships with local health care organizations. Since 1982, Orbis has been a pioneer in global eye health, and has worked in 92 countries. Orbis’s story began with our first Flying Eye Hospital, a fully-equipped mobile teaching hospital on board an aircraft. In addition to our Flying Eye Hospital programs, we have long-term programs in countries including Bangladesh, China, Ethiopia, India, South Africa, Vietnam and Zambia – with additional programs in parts of Latin America and the Caribbean. In Vietnam, Orbis has been working in Vietnam since 1996.
To support the expansion of ORBIS’s programs in Vietnam and the growing of the organization, we are seeking an experienced and qualified Vietnamese national candidates to fill the positions of PUBLIC RELATION & COMMUNICATION MANAGER.
Main responsibilities:
Working closely with the Country Director, and in collaboration with the global marketing and communications team, the PR & Communications Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and managing an integrated communication strategy to help the organization achieve its program goals as well as brand communications goal. This includes all external communication outreach activities, strengthening the stewardship activities designed to establish donor connections with the organization and helping to deepen engagement and foster an environment that leads to philanthropic gifts. The position will also require the preparation and creation of publicity material, corporate publications, and translation, as well as supporting PR events. (More detail in the attached JD [1]).
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master degree in Management with specialization in Communication, Marketing, Accounts Management, Financial services, Sales or another related field
- At least 7-10 years practical experiences in Communication, Marketing, Fundraising roles with corporate and individual donors; and /or exposure in a corporate and individual, major donor fundraising context.
- Proven track record of successful fundraising experiences.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of oral and written communications.
- Knowledge of fund-raising techniques including, but not limited to: proposal writing; public relations; prospect research; donor relations and stewardship; volunteer management; and correspondence management.
- Professional level skills in graphics and knowledge of desktop publishing for in-house graphics design and production.
- Skill in writing and editing news and feature articles. Ability to write/edit in a variety of writing styles, ability to draft materials on a wide range of topics. Strong editing and proofreading skills.
- Interpersonal skills to facilitate work with a wide range of individuals and groups from culturally diverse publics.
- Excellent interpersonal, networking, communication, negotiation and facilitation skills.
- Excellent language skills in English and Vietnamese including the ability to compose, edit, analyses and report using complex information.
