International Forum on Agriculture and Rural Development
In order to effectively support for the implementation of the Decision “Tam Nong” and National Target Program on New Rural Development, 9th November, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) succesfully held International Forum on Agriculture and Rural Development in Hanoi. Over 200 delegates from ministries, sectors, localities, international organisations, and local and international non-governmental organisations (NGOs/INGOs) attended the forum.
At the opening speech, Deputy Minister of MARD, Nguyen Dang Khoa stressed after the two year period of new rural development implementation, there are still constraints in raising awareness, farmers' ownership roles, investment, planning, structural shifting, custom and cultural value preservation. In order to takle the issues it requires inter-ministerial and internatonal organization collaboration.
The forum is a place where delegates share and discuss practices in rural development worldwide; also is the chance for Viet Nam to take a a view back on its visions and action plans in the New Rural Development.
Additionally, the forum makes a dialogue amongst national and local governmental officials and international organizations on possibilities and potential opportunities in rural development and new rural development in particular.
