Asian Institute of Technology in Vietnam (AITVN) is pleased to announce the opening of the 2 courses: Persuasive Speaking (May 21 – 23) & English Skills for Interpreters (June 25 – 30).
The main objectives of these mentioned courses are followed:
Persuasive Speaking:
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
* plan a presentation/ speech so that it has a clear purpose and is tailored to the audience
* structure a presentation, and organize ideas/ information effectively
* integrate factors to have an effective presentation: non-verbal language, voice control techniques, creating good rapport with the audience, and time management
* handle discussions and questions from the audience
English Skills for Interpreters:
Participants will improve their listening, speaking and interpreting skills through:
* understanding the role of the interpreter;
* adapting clarification techniques, including paraphrasing, summarizing and asking specific questions;
* discriminating between different registers and contexts;
* dealing with cross-cultural nuances;
* explaining words and concepts without Vietnamese equivalents;
* developing skills for dealing with specific problems such as ambiguities, jokes, idioms and analogies;
* understanding nonverbal communication; and
* developing voice.
