BirdlLife International in Indochina is the leading agency in facilitating the Global Environment Facility/World Bank (GEF/WB) funded project entitled 'Integrating watershed and biodiversity management in Chu Yang Sin National Park, Dak Lak Province' (IWBM). The IWBM project seeks to establish public support and effective management for Chu Yang Sin National Park (CYSNP), located in Krong Bong and Lak Districts, 60 km southeast of Buon Ma Thuat Town in Dak Lak Province, Vietnam.
BirdLife is seeking a firm to assess the potential environmental issues associated with a proposed road, the East Truong Son Highway, which will cut across CYSNP and a trail network to be built within and throughout the national park. The goal of this assessment is to provide park management staff with the information they need to work with the construction company to limit potential damage (if any) to the national park during construction, mitigate against unavoidable damage, and manage the potential impacts of the presence of the road through the national park, and trail network within the national park, effectively. This information should enable decision makers associated with the road construction to make better, well informed decisions and to work closely with park staff throughout the process.
The consultancy will include:
1. An assessment of potential issues associated with building the road and surfaced patrol trail network and a comprehensive report detailing the results of the assessment;
2. Detailed and clear materials which communicate relevant information from the assessment to developers, district and provincial level staff and park staff;
3. A workshop to communicate key information to decision makers and facilitate informed dialogue between the park staff and other relevant stakeholders.
