Secretary/Translator-Interpreter

Handicap International (HI) is non-governmental organization of International solidarity, created in 1982 and governed by French law on non-profit organizations. Handicap International’s mission is to assist people in situations of disability or vulnerability, whatever may be the underlying cause and environment. HI started in Vietnam in 2001 developing projects to support people in disabling situations. This is done through the implementation of multidisciplinary programmes concerning prevention, treatment, empowerment, integration and emergency intervention.

HI is seeking candidates willing to integrate and participate in our projects and team for a replacement during a maternity leave.
Secretary/Translator-Interpreter- short contract (6 months)
Location: Ha Noi, Vietnam

Responsibilities:
- Typical secretarial tasks – typing, filing, meeting and partner organisation, daily office management
- Arranging and organisation of HI staff travel requirements
- Stationary management
- Expatriate administration – visa, flights, accommodation
- Translation and interpretation duties in a precise, objective, accurate and timely manner Mainly Vietnamese ? English, knowledge of French an advantage (the organisation is a French Lyonnaise one).
- Cultural awareness instruction for our expatriates
- Representation of HI F at seminars and meetings
- Mediator when required, as first contact between partners and service agents.

Requirements:
- Fluency in English and Vietnamese essential
- Knowledge of French (not obligatory)
- Experience in translating and interpreting
- Experience as a secretary or junior administrative assistant
- Experience in working with an NGO (not obligatory)
- Availability from 28 of September 2009 to 31 of March 2010
