Vietnam Develops Effective Treatment Plan for COVID-19 Patients: Official

Vietnam has developed an effective treatment plan for patients infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) although drugs against the virus have yet to be found, Associate Professor Luong Ngoc Khue, head of the Medical Examination and Treatment Management Department under the Ministry of Health (MoH). As many as 15 out of 16 COVID-19 patients in Vietnam have tested negative for the virus, after receiving treatments at hospitals in the country, the expert added. To combat the virus, the MoH gathered the country’s top health experts to map out the best treatment plan, and then continuously updated it, he revealed. The MoH let local hospitals treat COVID-19 patients in their localities, which proved effective and helped reduce the risks of virus transmission, he affirmed. As of February 20, Vietnam discharged 14 COVID-19 patients from hospital, with the latest one being the three-month old baby on February 20 morning. The Vietnamese American patient, though having tested negative for the virus five times, is still in hospital for further care. He is expected to be discharged from hospital tomorrow [February 21]. The l6th COVID-19 patient in Vietnam is also the only one still in a local hospital in the northern province of Vinh Phuc to get treatment against the virus.
