USAID Supports Vietnam Customs in Developing E-learning Management System

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)- Trade Facilitation Program (TFP) will support the General Department of Vietnam Customs in developing an e-learning management system (eLMS) in Vietnam Customs School, which will become a foundation for e-learning courses of the customs sector. This was the main content of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the USAID-TFP and the Vietnam Customs in northern Hung Yen province on July 21. Under the deal, the USAID-TFP will also coordinate training courses about using and managing the system for officials of Vietnam Customs School and those about designing online training courses for the school’s lecturers. The project will help customs officers update the latest knowledge as well as improve the skills to overcome the existing and future challenges, such as illegal transshipment and origin frauds. USAID/Vietnam Mission Director Michael Greene stressed that the signing took place on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the normalization of Vietnam-U.S. diplomatic ties and expressed the USAID’s commitments as a trusted partner of Vietnam in general and the Vietnam Customs in particular. The USAID will continue supporting the Vietnam Customs and Vietnam Customs School in improving the training capacity, Mr. Michael Greene said. (Hai Quan, Hai Quan)
