U.S.’s Glenfarne Group Wants to Help Vietnam in Energy Transition

The New York-based Glenfarne Group has expressed interest in participating in the energy transition in Vietnam at a recent meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh as part of his ongoing visit to the United States.

The company is specialized in operating liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fueled facilities. Besides, it wants to use a large number of local workers for its projects, said Mr. Brendan Duval, an executive of Glenfarne.

For his part, PM Chinh discussed and clarified some contents of Vietnam’s draft power development plan (PDP) VIII. He noted that Vietnam has not enacted the PDP VIII as the country is adjusting some terms to meet the energy transition targets set at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26).

The prime minister suggested the U.S. firm study Vietnam’s wind energy potential and boost investment in the clean energy sector. He asked the company to work directly with competent agencies in Vietnam to avoid wasting time and costs. (VOV, PLO, VOV 1, Vietnam Plus, Bao Quoc Te)
