Rate of Trained Laborers within Vietnam’s Ethnic Minorities still Low

Vietnam’s ethnic minorities still have low rate of trained laborers, at 2%, or even 0% among some groups, said Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha, at a conference in the northern mountainous province of Son La on September 13. He added that the overall rate of trained laborers of the ethnic minorities is only 6.2%, or one-third of the national average. Mr. Nha suggested three solutions of (i) applying direct recruitment of outstanding learners, (ii) applying training of students per ordering mechanism and recruiting staff per demand of sectors and localities, and (iii) improving input of high school students advancing to universities and colleges. In 2010-2020, about 45,000 learners of ethnic minorities have pursued high education paths. (Giao Duc Thoi Dai, giaoducthoidai.vn, giaoducthoidai.vn)
