IFC to Help Vietnam HCMC Build Medical Facilities under PPP Scheme

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) will help Vietnam’s southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City build medical facilities under public-private partnership (PPP) format, following an agreement signed between representatives of the two sides on April 5, state media reported. The signing ceremony took place after a working session between Vice Chairman of municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem and Mr. Kyle Kelhofer, country manager for Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia of the IFC, on the same day. Under the agreement, the IFC will help build a training center, a general clinic, and a daycare facility at the Pham Ngoc Thanh University of Medicine. The facilities are expected to serve around 300,000 patients a year. With the assistance of Hungarian partners and the Rockefeller Foundation, the IFC will conduct detailed assessment and compile a report on different options for the project in the next six months. Bidding for the project is slated for the end of this year, with the results to be announced in mid-2020. (Vietnam PlusEnglish, plo, Sai Gon Dau Tu)
