Germany-funded Rooftop Solar Power Proj in Vietnam Launched on May 10

The rooftop solar power project funded by Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state of Germany on May 10 began operating Vietnam’s Mekong Delta province of An Giang, local media reported. The project was built on top of the official of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade with the equipment imported from Germany. The project costs $15,000 with a capacity of generating 3,546 kWh a year. The province plans to raise the annual capacity from solar power plants to 250 MWp with the electricity output of 361.4 million kWh by 2020. Meanwhile, the capacity from rooftop solar power will be increased to 500 MWp by 2020 and 2,000 MWp by 2021, according to the power development scheme of the province. An Giang has huge potential in solar power with the solar radiation of 4.7 kWh-5.1 kWh per square meter per day. It has an average of 2,400 sunshine hours a year. (VietnamBiz, VietnamBiz)
