46 Vietnamese Localities Recognized as Malaria-Free by 2023: Official

By 2023, Vietnam had achieved the recognition of 46 provinces as malaria-free and is confident in reaching the goal of eliminating malaria by 2030, making it become a bright spot in malaria prevention and control in the region and worldwide, said Deputy Minister of Health Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong.

Dr. Huong made the statement at the Commemoration and Awarding ceremony for the competition "Understanding the Life and Scientific Career of Professor, Doctor, Hero, Martyr Dang Van Ngu" at the National Institute of Malariology, Parasitology, and Entomology in Hanoi on February 22.

To continue the efforts in malaria prevention and elimination, as well as other diseases caused by insects and parasites, by 2024, Ms. Huong proposed that all staff and workers of the Institute continue to uphold the good traditions, spirit of solidarity, adhere to the motto "whatever benefits the people must be done to the best of our abilities," and be determined to overcome challenges, unleash creativity to excellently fulfill tasks, aiming to ensure the elimination of malaria by 2030.
