JOB ANNOUNCEMENT – STUDY COORDINATOR

The University of North Carolina in Vietnam is a research organization of the University of North Carlina at Chapel Hill, USA. Our missions are conducting clinical research on new treatment methods for HIV prevention, TB treatment, mental health in both treatment and behavior changes for people living with HIV, TB patients, men who have sex with men and people who inject drug. Our partners are Hanoi Medical University, Hospitals in Hanoi, Provincial CDCs nationwide. We are conducting clinical trials of the HIV/AIDS Prevention Trial Network (HPTN) and AIDS Clinical Trial Group (ACTG). In order to expand our operations, we are now seeking a talented and dedicated individual to join our team.

Position:          Study Coordinator

                        Full-time, based in Hanoi.

Report to:        Research Manager; In-country Director

Position Summary:

The Study Coordinator will coordinate and oversee the execution of the study “Scaling up the brief alcohol intervention to prevent HIV infection in Vietnam: a cluster randomized, implementation trial” from inception to completion to achieve the study objectives and outcomes. The study is implemented in 30 ART clinics in 10 provinces in Vietnam with the aims to: scale up an evidence-based brief alcohol intervention (BAI) in Vietnam; examine the mechanisms of BAI scale-up and assess the impact of experiential BAI (EBAI) on clinic staff

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Coordination, management and report of study implementation

  • Coordinate implementation of the study activities as planned to ensure adherence to study protocol, standard operation procedures (SOP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP) regulations
  • Monitoring and evaluation of study indicators for the study outcomes
  • Develop and review study materials and tools, including but not limited to Standard Operation Procedures (SOP), assessment tools, intervention manual, data collection system, training materials, IRB documents
  • Prepare submission packages for IRB approvals and local authority approval for the study implementation, study protocols, amendments, informed consent forms, study guides, case report forms, and any other research related documents.
  • Coordinate and organize training activities and monitoring visits to study sites

2. Budget management

  • Monitor the study field budget expenses in UNC Vietnam
  • Coordinate the signing, maintenance and liquidation of sub-contracts of the study with provincial Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
  • Work closely with finance team to monitor budget advance and disbursement of expenses for provincial CDCs.

3. Liaison and coordinate with stakeholders for study implementation

  • Liaison and coordinate with stakeholders such as Vietnam Administration of HIV/AIDS Control (VAAC), Hanoi Medical University (HMU), Provincial Department of Health (DoH), Provincial Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and other partners for study implementation.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to arrange meetings and facilitate information sharing.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders and study partners.

Required qualifications and skills:

  • Master’s degree in a field related to health, epidemiology, psychology is required or equivelent working expriences in relevant fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in coordinator position for health related programs/projects/studies
  • Experience effectively engaging with government health entities
  • Good attitude, self-motivated, and ability to work well individually as well as in teams
  • Strong analytical, organizational, time management skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative data analysis software (SPSS, Stata, EpiData, Nvivo..) is preferred.
