Senior Project Officer, Rattan Project

WWF-Vietnam is one country component of the WWF Greater Mekong and is the implementing arm for projects in Vietnam mainly in Central Annamites, Southern Annamites and the Mekong Delta. Our major activities focus on Freshwater, Forestry, Marine and Aquaculture, Agriculture and Agroforestry, Policy and Advocacy.

We are currently seeking for an well-qualified and experienced candidate to fill a full-time position of SENIOR PROJECT OFFICER, RATTAN PROJECT. The position will be based in Hue city, Vietnam with frequent travel to project sites (in Hue & Quang Nam)

Main responsibilities:
Be responsible for assisting the Project Manager and WWF supporting team in the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of project activities within the frame of IKEA supported project - “Establishing a Sustainable Production System for Rattan Products in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam”.
This will include the monitoring and supervision of all counterparts related to the project and the management of activity budget. Project activities will involve regular trips to remote field locations to support the field surveys, workshops, meetings and where possible, deliver training to beneficiaries and also, provide technical assistance to the EC supported project on activities related to rattan resources management, production, processing and marketing and community based forest management group.  The main function will also include providing input for annual report to project manager.

Qualifications and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in conservation, natural resource management, bioregional planning, environmental, or in relevant fields
· 5 years of practical experience as Senior Project Officer; experience in related fields is an advantage
· Experience in conducting studies and coordinating research activities
· Good experience of working with Government officials, local communities and/or donors at all levels
· Knowledge of conservation and natural resource management issues in Viet Nam, especially in related fields
· Working knowledge of policy/institutional context in related field in Viet Nam
· Familiarity with the project area and local residence will be an asset
