Senior Economist; Economist

Development and Policies Research Center (DEPOCEN) is seeking to appoint positions of Senior Economist and Economist to join DEPCOEN’s Research Group to lead its research program in development economics and public health.The post holder will contribute to designing and delivering innovative, high-quality and policy-relevant research, policy advice and public affairs initiatives. We welcome applications in all fields of economics but preference will be given to those with an expertise in statistics, econometrics, public economics, development, and health economics. Job Description:

• Manage research projects and lead the development of research proposals
• Lead and assure research quality in all stages, including designing research protocols, collecting data, processing and analyzing data, writing reports, journal articles and other publications, as well as delivering presentations and other communication activities
• Supervise junior researchers and research assistants
• Representing DEPOCEN in its relationship with clients and communicate with project stakeholders
• Other tasks assigned by the Board of Directors

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master degrees in Economics, Statistics, Public Health, and other relevant fields
• At least 3 years of experience in leading quantitative research, statistical analysis, and econometric modeling
• Research experience in the field of taxation, public health, and/or economics of tobacco controls is desirable
• Demonstrated knowledge of smoking epidemic, tobacco control policies, tobacco taxation and the tobacco industry in Vietnam is a distinct advantage
• Proficiency in STATA/R or other statistical software
• Strong critical thinking, analytical skills, and leadership
• Excellent command in English and Vietnamese, particularly speaking and writing
• Strong capability to both work independently and cooperate with team members
• Having publication in international referred journals is an advantage
