Resource Development and Communications Associate (RDCA)

Position title:      Resource Development and Communications Associate (RDCA) 
Workplace:         Habitat for Humanity Vietnam (HFHV) at the HCMC Habitat Resource Centre
Reports to:         Resource Development and Communications Manager (RDCM) 
Supervises:        Relevant local and international volunteers and/or interns

Relates to    Coordinates with PM&E Manager and Programme Managers regularly; Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) Asia Pacific regional office occasionally

Start date    On or before July 1, 2011
   
Overall Responsibilities:
The Resource Development and Communications Associate (RDCA) is responsible for assisting in the development of resource mobilisation strategies to support HFHV’s mission. The RDCA will support existing specific activities and work towards developing further activities that also involve partners, donors, staff and volunteers, etc. The RDCA will assist the RDCM in building the resource and communications capacity of HFHV. These activities may include, but are not limited to networking, event planning, attending functions and/or events, preparing presentations and marketing collateral, and proposal research and writing.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:
- Assist the RDCM with acquiring resources from international and national sources of funding (e.g. corporations, multilateral and bilateral organizations and foundations)
- On occasion represent HFHV to its supporters locally
- Assist in the development and submission of proposals to donors, alongside the RDCM and  appropriate HFHV staff
- Assist in the timely and accurate submission of donor reports
- Assist in the development and maintenance of relationships with local, regional and international businesses and organizations
- Assist in the execution of applicable fundraising and advocacy events either as an HFHV initiative or in collaboration with partners
- Assist in the support of partners’, including donors’,  and if required,  journalists’, visits to project sites, including coordinating donor visits to programme areas
- Manage the database of current and potential donors in terms of funding preferences and priorities
- Assist in the coordination of the development and distribution marketing and communications collateral such as press releases, social media, presentation slides, annual reports, newsletters, etc.
- Coordinate regularly with programme, finance and administration team leaders and perform any other tasks as agreed for overall operational needs

Required Experience and Specifications

Essential:
- Passion for working with and on behalf of people affected by poverty
- Alignment with the values, vision and mission of HFHI in general and HFHV in particular 
- University degree in communications (e.g. journalism, public relations, marketing) or nonprofit management strongly preferred
- Minimum three years’ work experience in development and/or fundraising
- Fluency in spoken and written English (writing samples will be requested)
- Fluency in Vietnamese strongly preferred
- Strong writing and research skills for different audiences (writing samples will be requested)
- Proficient desktop publishing skills, including proven experience in Adobe InDesign and PhotoShop (design samples will be requested)
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
- Strong attention to details and ability to follow through
- Culturally aware team player
- Comfortable in a position which requires influencing, negotiating and facilitating dialogue with donors and partners, including public speaking

Desirable
- Knowledge of IT systems (e.g. web design, website development, Dreamweaver, etc.)
- Experience facilitating group training workshops
- Experience working in a developing country

Remuneration Range: Grade R3, Level B

Performance Appraisals
Annual or project-specific job plans will be developed with supervisor, and management team will objectively guide and serve as assessment tool for regular (3-6 months) performance assessments and formal annual or end of project performance appraisals.
