Research Institution for Longitudinal Study at Aus4Equality|GREAT Program

Call for Proposals
(for both international and national research institutions)

Aus4Equality|GREAT program, a socio-economic development initiative working in Son La and Lao Cai provinces and funded through the Government of Australia’s Aid Program in Vietnam is calling for proposals from qualified research institutions to conduct a longitudinal study.

Main purpose of the study is to measure changes and gain a deep understanding about change process in women’s economic empowerment of the program’s beneficiaries in agricultural and tourism sectors over the lifetime of the program. It will provide rigorous evidence to help the program and its implementing partners plan effective interventions and advocate for policy changes.

Scope of service:

The longitudinal study will be conducted in five districts in Lao Cai and two districts in Son La. Specifically

• Lao Cai: Van Ban, Bac Ha, Sa Pa, Muong Khuong and Bat Xat
• Son La: Van Ho and Moc Chau

Main targeted subjects of the study are women beneficiaries who engage in project activities in the study areas. Other indirect beneficiaries should be included to have a good understanding of women’s power relations.

Selection of specific areas and subjects for the study should be carried out based on a well-defined approach, referring to the interventions under the GREAT’s Provincial Engagement Strategy (PES) and implementing partners’ project designs.

Study timeline

The study will be carried out over the program’s lifetime, with two main phases:

• Setting up phase: January – June 2019 for designing, setting up, launching and establishing baseline:
• Operational phase: July 2019 – June 2021 for continuous data collection, analysis, sharing and utilization of findings

Eligible applicants must:

• Be a research institution in the field of gender related, and/or anthropological and/or ethnographical research/study;
• Have at least 2 similar contracts implemented in the last 5 years as the main contractor;
