Project Manager/Agriculture Advisor

SNV Vietnam is seeking a Project Manager/Agriculture Advisor

SNV is an internationally renowned non-government organisation that has been working in Vietnam since 1995. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalyzing environmentally sustainable solutions in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation and REDD+(Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation).
SNV is in the process of bidding for an upcoming project funded by an international donor looking to support innovation in the energy/agriculture nexus. SNV intends to build synergies between intensive pig farming and rice farming sectors by employing medium-scale biogas technology and utilising co-products to produce high marketable solid organic fertiliser. This project builds on SNV’s experience with medium-scale biogas, extensive work in the rice sector and the development of value chains. The project would be implemented in Northern, Central and Southern regions of Vietnam.
SNV is seeking an experienced Project Manager/ Agriculture Advisor to manage the project (subject to project approval)

Responsibilities

The Project Manager/ Agriculture Advisor will manage all aspects of the project and provide technical guidance for the production of fertiliser from bioslurry and rice crop residues. More specifically:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with project partners and stakeholders
- Act as the focal point for the project with technical team, partners, stakeholders and donor
- Prepare and negotiate contracts and MoU agreements
- Coordinate and support the technical advisory team, partners and stakeholders of the project to ensure effective and smooth implementation of project activities
- Prepare and coordinate project, annual and quarterly budgets, work plans and reports
- Assist in the development of the M&E framework and carry out M&E tasks
- Lead the technical approach and activities relating to fertiliser production, utilisation, productivity assessments and assist with value chain creation
- Assist the development of information materials to document outcomes and lessons learned

Candidate profile

- Committed Vietnamese citizen
- University degree in agriculture, agronomy, agribusiness or related field
- At least 7 years of relevant working experience at international organisation(s)
- Understanding and experience in project monitoring and evaluation is preferable 
- Initiative and creative in solving problems
- Ability to work independently and with the team
- Good organizing skills and interpersonal skills
- Good oral and written communication skills (English and Vietnamese)
- Computer proficiency in Windows and Office based programs

Contract Duration

One-year associate advisor contract with the possibility of extension (subject to project approval). The project duration is 3 years. We expect confirmation of the result between May and June and for work to commence from August 2013.
