Project Interpreter/Assistant

Background
The Vietnam Environmental Administration, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) will start implementation of a ADB loaned project entitled “Greater Mekong Subregion Biodiversity Conservation Corridors – Viet Nam component” over a period of 8 years, 2011-2019. The objective of the project is to achieve climate resilient sustainable forest ecosystems in the Central Annamites benefiting local livelihoods and downstream users while the intended outcome is sustainably managed biodiversity corridors in Quang Nam, Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue. The Project consists of four outputs: (1) Institutional and Community Strengthening; (2) Biodiversity Corridor Restoration and Protection; (3) Livelihoods Improvement and Small-Scale Infrastructure Support; and (4) Project Management and Support Services.

This Project Interpreter/Assistant will work for Central Project Management Unit CPMU at Biodiversity Conservation Agency, VEA, MONRE.

Duty and responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services to the Project activities, including meetings, relevant workshops and events; acting as interpreter for Project team and international consultants when necessary;
- Translate project documents, materials, papers, etc. from Vietnamese into English and vice versa as needed.
- To interpret on occasional basis during official meetings with other participants to the process;
- Arrange external and internal meetings (including meetings related to the proposal consultative process, among others), workshops, seminars, roundtables, field trips;
- Prepare project work plan and reports;
- Prepare TORs and contracts for consultants/experts for project activities;
- Assist in implementation of project activities;
- Assist in monitoring and evaluation of project activities;
- Contribute inputs into technical matters of the project;
- Undertake any other actions related to the project as requested by National Project Director/Deputy Director/ Coordinator

Qualifications and requirements:
- Having background in environment/biodiversity  would be an advantage;
- A minimum of  4   years experience   in   implemeting ODA projects   (at government or international organizations level), particularly projects covering environmental/biodiversity issues;
- Experience in translating/interpreting;
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, good inter-personal and team building skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment, and establish harmonious and effective working relationships.
- Working level of English language is an absolute necessity;
- Full competence with computer skills (Word; Excel; Outlook Express; PowerPoint; etc.);
