PROJECT COORDINATOR

I.    BACKGROUND

The International Center (formerly known as Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation -VVAF) is an US based non-profit organization based in Washington, DC. IC-VVAF established a representative office in Hanoi in 1994, and has been active in humanitarian assistance programs and development assistance continuously since that time. IC-VVAF has also addressed the consequences of war through advocacy and service programs in Vietnam for the last three decades. As a cofounder of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, IC-VVAF was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997.  Since then, IC-VVAF focuses on disability support, mine action, and mental health programs.

Under the financial support of United States Agency for International Development (USAID), IC is implementing the Disability Support Project named “Moving without Limits” in the three provinces of Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam and Binh Dinh from July 2015 until September 2022. This project aims to improve the accessibility of the people with mobility impairments in Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, and Binh Dinh to quality and affordable assistive devices.

IC is seeking for Project Coordinator to support implementation of project activities in Quang Nam Provinces.

Job title: Project Coordinator
Duty station: in Quang Nam and other project provinces when required

Requirements:

  • College degree in physiotherapy or equivalent.
  • At least five years working experience in implementing local health activities.
  • Ability to connect, coordinate, mobilize local human resources to participate in project activities.
  • Have good health to travel within provinces to monitor project activities
  • Experiences in working on supporting disability projects is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of people and culture in province

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with provincial Project Officer to monitor the progress and overall quality of project activities in Quang Nam.
  • Supervising and providing technical support for service providers in community needs assessment of AD and home modification for PWMDs, user training, reassessment and follow-up on use of AD for beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate and plan project activities relating capacity building, system strengthening, policy advocacy and networking
  • Report all issues when implementing the project to the Program Officers promptly.
  • Submit reports of activities to IC office.
  • Perform other necessary duties as required.

Scope of work

  • Supervising and providing technical support for service providers in community needs assessment of AD and home modification for PWMDs, user training, reassessment and follow-up on use of AD for beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate and plan project activities relating capacity building, system strengthening, policy advocacy and networking
  • Supporting in monitoring and supervising the implementation progress of establishment of AT unit and transition house for the General Hospital for northern mountainous areas of Quang Nam.
  • Monitor and implement other activities of project as needed.

Reporting to: Project Officers in Hanoi.
Cooperate with: Project Officers in Hanoi and other involved stakeholders
