Contract type: Full-time
Duration: 1 year with possible extension; 3 month probationary period
Duty location: Based in Ha Noi, with some regular travel to attend research sites outside of Hanoi.

Description of the research programme

The Woolcock Institute of Medical Research (WIMR) is a leading Australian-based research organization that conducts research into lung diseases such as tuberculosis and asthma.  The research projects relate to common lung diseases, such as tuberculosis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The Woolcock Institute strives to build capacity for conducting high quality research within the hospitals and clinics of the Vietnamese Health Care System. It is currently conducting a number of major public health projects in Vietnam, in partnership with the National Lung Hospital, including a national multi-centre study of tuberculosis screening.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Project Assistant to join our team in Hanoi, to support the implementation of a large randomized controlled trial of tuberculosis screening.
This person will work closely with a Project Officer and other Project Assistants at the Woolcock Institute offices, conduct field trips and work closely with our partners within government hospitals throughout Vietnam. She or he will also work with support from senior Australian and Vietnamese researchers based in Vietnam.

Main duties

Under the direct supervision of the Project Officer, the roles of this employee will be the following:  
- Oversee research in selected participating districts, with our government partners
- Take responsibility for routine financial management within the Project Office
- Review financial acquittals by government partners
- Support the development of new research projects
- Collect and review the quality of data produced by partner clinics and provincial hospitals in our research study
- Assist with obtaining official approval for new projects
- Other duties as required

Qualifications:

Education:
- University qualification related to health, health research or health administration is highly desirable.

Essential competencies
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
- Ability to work as a part of a team
- Typing skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel and/or basic office financial programmes
- Ability to use EpiData and/or other simple statistical data management tools
- Reasonable English language skills

Terms of employment:
