Program Coordinator, Global Forest & Trade Network cum BMEL Project Component Leader

WWF-Vietnam is seeking for a qualified candidate for the position Program Coordinator, Global Forest & Trade Network cum BMEL project component leader, WWF-Vietnam.

The Program Coordinator, Global Forest & Trade Network cum BMEL project component leader is directly responsible for the Vietnam national programme of WWF’s Global Forest & Trade Network (GFTN): represents WWF-Vietnam internally and externally on issues of responsible forest products trade, responsible forestry and credible forest certification, and corporate engagement; plays a lead role in policy development and issues management; forges and maintains close working relationships with partners, particularly private companies and relevant non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Besides, this position will be responsible for the planning, management and implementation of a component in project “Support the close to nature, private forest management and support to the FLEGT-VPA process in Vietnam” project and ensures compliance with the Project Document and WWF’s contractual obligations. This includes responsibilities for technical, financial and administrative aspects of the Project as well as management of a small technical team. He/she will oversee the development of management systems, operational procedures and capacity building of key counterparts in his/her component.

Base location:  Ha Noi, Vietnam

Key requirements:

  • Master’s degree in natural resources management, environmental or conservation management, bioregional planning, development studies, or in relevant fields
  • Qualification in Project Management
  • 3 years of practical experience in leading and managing programmes or projects in the forest sector, 2 years of which should be in a relevant landscape for GFTN-Vietnam
  • Knowledge of forest management and the forest products industry in Vietnam, as well as experience in working for or with forest sector or related companies to set and achieve objectives for improving performance and environmental sustainability.
  • Thorough understanding of socio-economic, conservation and development issues in Vietnam and in the landscape in charge
  • Knowledge of the policy/institutional context related to conservation and the government agencies, development partners, donor institutions, and the not-for-profit sector in the landscape
  • Excellent understanding of development partnerships, fund-raising, donor strategies, functions, governmental and international relations
  • Proven experience of managing programmes funded by a diversity of sources including governments and aid agencies, private sector donors
  • Good Coordination & Facilitation skills
  • Influencing & Networking skills
  • Good presentation & interpersonal skills
  • Good Proposal Development & Report writing skills
  • Good People management, coaching and capacity building/development
  • Excellent project administration and financial management, program management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
