Internship Coordinator

WUSC is seeking two (2) Vietnamese Internship Coordinators: one in the area of Technical and Vocational Education and Training and the other having a role of Leadership and Personal Support.  Both positions are for a six month term based in Hanoi with fieldwork conducted either Tra Vinh or Binh Thuan provinces for half the time.

The Internship Coordinators will provide support for the Uniterra 2011 International Student Seminar which will be held in Vietnam from June 15th – August 1st , 2010.

The goal of the International Seminar is to engage a group of 20 Canadian and 20 Vietnamese students in an intercultural and collaborative field project relating to Skills for Employment in Vietnam. The two Vietnamese internship coordinators will work with counterparts from Canada to coordinate and support all aspects of the students’ field work which will focus on examining skills training needs of youth as required by the job market.  The coordinators should also be available at all times to guide the students and facilitate the learning process and group dynamics. 

Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development of the International Seminar program activities with three other Internship Coordinators (2 Canadians and 1 Vietnamese and the WUSC Uniterra staff in Hanoi.)
- Assume an advisory role for 40 students (20 Vietnamese and 20 Canadians) in conjunction with the other coordinators specifically with regards to their technical field work for partner organizations, personal support and final evaluation
- Submit project reports.

Professional Requirements:
- Masters degree or equivalent work experience and at least 5 years work experience in education or vocational training
- Experience working with communities, colleges, and local industries in Vietnam
- Ability to work with and supervise youth, particularly university students
- Knowledge of technical vocational education and training programs in Vietnam
- Skills in organizing, planning and coordinating project and joint research activities
- Strong command of spoken English
- Experience in organizing and managing student groups
- Studies abroad would be an asset

Terms and Conditions:
Period:  six month contract
Starting date:  March 15, 2010
Location:  Based in Hanoi with frequent travel to Binh Thuan or Tra Vinh.
