Every year VVOB offers a limited number of talented young Vietnamese (under) graduate students the opportunity to temporarily participate in the implementation of its programme. Students get hands-on and practical experience in various aspects of development work and in the specific technical niches of the VVOB programme, guided by experienced national and international colleagues.

1. THE PROGRAMME
The Flemish Association for Development Cooperation and Technical Assistance (VVOB) is a non-profit organization that by order of the Flemish and the Belgian government contributes to the improvement of the quality of education in developing countries. The cooperation between VVOB and Vietnam started in 1992. 18 years later VVOB has outgrown its substitution and project phases, with a programme concentrating on the sectors of basic education and agricultural extension. The Multi Year Plan 2008-2013 and the Programme Operational Plan 2008-2010 are built on the foundations laid in the past, i.e. teacher training especially through Environmental Education (EE) and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and Educational Management.
The current education programme aims to improve the quality of lower secondary education in 5 provinces of North and Central Vietnam (Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai) through an integrated support to the Active Teaching and Learning (ATL) change processes.
In support of the programme 'Friendly Schools, Active Students 2008-2013' and anticipating on proposed measures in the Education Development Strategic Plan 2011-2020, VVOB is collaborating with Departments of Education and Training (DOETs), mass organizations and teacher training institutes in introducing, managing, supporting and facilitating innovative teaching and learning methods and practices. The ultimate goal of the interventions is to improve the quality of lower secondary education in Vietnam by promoting contemporary knowledge, effective professional skills, creativity, independent and critical thinking skills, problem-solving capability and high adaptability to a continuously changing environment.

2. TASKS
The selected interns are expected to join the VVOB admin pool and to fulfill the following supporting tasks to the programme team:
- Assisting in the collection and submission of administrative and financial documentation;
- Assisting programme coordinators in contacting partners, collecting information, follow- up by telephone or correspondence;
- Providing translation and interpretation;
- Assisting in keeping office files and documentation up to date and in order;
- Assisting with expenditure analysis and documentation for partners;
- Giving logistical support for in-country and international missions;
- Arranging for delivery & collection of mail and documents;
- Communicating internally with the programme team on administrative and general office matters; and
- Any other tasks where the intern can contribute to.

3. QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- (Under) Graduate student in Secretarial Studies, Business Management, Language Studies or Education;
- Proficient in computer applications: good command of MS Word and MS Excel is required, knowledge of MS Access and MS PowerPoint is desirable;
- Experience with other internet and software applications is an advantage;
- Basic knowledge of bookkeeping;
- Good planning and organisational skills;
- Responsible, result orientated and able to meet deadlines;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Strong interest to build a career in the development sector, particular in the field of education; and
- Good written and oral command of English.

4. CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
This is a non-remunerated internship. The interns will receive an allowance to cover travel expenses from home to work.
VVOB covers all costs related to travel and board during field missions, if any.
