POSITION: International Capacity Building Officer (Volunteer position)
LOCATION: Hanoi, Vietnam
REPORTS TO: Douglas Hendrie, Chief Technical Advisor
Term: One year minimum

Education for Nature-Vietnam (ENV) was established in 2000 as Vietnam’s first non-governmental organization focused on the conservation of nature and the environment. Our mission is to foster greater understanding amongst the Vietnamese public about environmental issues of local, national and global significance, ranging from the protection of wildlife and natural ecosystems to climate change. We employ creative and innovative strategies to influence attitudes and mobilize Vietnamese citizens to live in balance with the natural world and to take action to protect Vietnam’s precious environment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The capacity building officer is tasked with the following duties and responsibilities:

Capacity Building and Training

  • Strengthen the capacity of key supervisory staff within the communications and demand reduction departments to plan, manage, communicate, and execute program activities effectively
  • Identify weaknesses of staff and develop an on-going training for these staff
  • Provide critical advice, and in some cases where necessary or appropriate, directly intervene in the planning and execution of activities and campaigns
  • Provide assistance to the operations director and management board overseeing all ENV activities (in all departments) where applicable, to help ensure that ENV programs and activities meet output requirements and conform to the quality and value expectations of the organization

Communications and Networking

  • Assist with ENV’s English language communications to enhance quality and content of information flow to a broader base of ENV friends and supporters
  • Enhance ENV’s international profile through communications activities and networking partnerships

Special Projects

  • Assist in fundraising efforts where applicable
  • Other duties and special assignments as assigned by ENV Operations Director & ENV Management Board

REQUIREMENTS

  • Native English speaker
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong character with a can-do attitude, with an ability to use initiative and think outside the box
  • A passion for wildlife conservation
  • Management experience desirable

COMPENSATION

  • Monthly stipend
  • Business/working visa after three month period
