Intern for REDD+ Programme

Background

SNV-Vietnam is a Dutch development organisation that aims to strengthen the capacity of Vietnamese organizations to improve access to basic services and income and employment for the poor. SNV-Vietnam’s interventions are designed within the frameworks of the Vietnam Social Economic Development Plan (SEDP) and the Millennium Development Goals supported by the Vietnamese government. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalyzing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation).

SNVs REDD+ Programme is focused on six intervention areas. SNV REDD+ ‘High-Biodiversity REDD+’ project is looking for an intern to help with to help with communications tasks.

Intern Duties and Responsibilities

- Copy editing and providing design assistance to SNV sub-contractors on all communications material such as technical reports, manuals, policy briefs, leaflets, posters, news articles, etc.
- Managing and maintaining the Forest Carbon Asia thematic page on biodiversity and REDD+, with technical assistance from SNV supervisor and in collaboration with FCA
- Supporting logistical and communications preparations for national/international events in which the project/programme runs or participates in as a co-organiser
- Supporting other communications tasks required by the global SNV REDD+ programme as necessary

Requirements

- High proficiency of English, preferably to native speaker’s level
- English writing and editing experience
- Basic publication designing skills are preferred
- Knowledge of forestry sector and related climate change mitigation approaches desirable
- Passion for working in an multicultural environment

Supervision

The Intern will be coached and supervised by Steve Swan, Senior REDD+ Advisor

Duration of assignment

- initially from 01/06/2012 until 31/07/2012, with a view to possible extension after reviewing this initial period.
- half-time (3 days a week), flexible scheduling
