Description of the project the Intern will complete:

The intern will practice and learn about project implementation under the supervision of the HIV HIS Technical Coordinator of an US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-funded program, “HQ Supported Development, Implementation, Use and Evaluation of Interoperable Health Information Systems to Achieve HIV/AIDS and TB Epidemic Control through Improved Health Informatics Policy, Governance, Workforce Capacity, and Systems under PEPFAR”. The project’s goal is to employ health informatics in Vietnam to curb the HIV/AIDS epidemic by accelerating testing and treatment strategies, expanding prevention, improving data quality, strengthening country ownership, and leveraging public and private partnerships.

Description of overall learning objectives and goals for the internship/benefit to the Intern:

To gain practical experiences in the field of project implementation & management, admin/finance management, regular duties and responsibilities of program and/ or position

Brief description of required skills/experience the intern should possess:

  • Recently graduated from or senior students of a university on health informatics, public health, or any related fields is preferred.
  • High level of detail focus, accuracy, and responsibility
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in both Vietnamese and English
  • Strong MS Office, organizational and analytical skills
  • Motivation and strong desire to learn and take on new challenges
  • Willing to take on responsibility and travel to project sites for work if necessary

Skills to be developed and/or expanded during internship:

  • Knowledge about health information systems design and deployment
  • Insight into the working environment and understanding the culture of the international organization
  • Project implementation and management
  • Skills of communication and coordination
  • Team working skills
  • Other related skills of logistics arrangement, financial process, event organization and administration

Proposed activities:

  • Support the project team in implementation of project activities
  • Synthesize feedback from consultants and partners to project’s products
  • Follow up with consultants on their working progress and gathering their deliverables
  • Liaise with partners to support the coordination of project activities
  • Support team members in organizing project workshops, trainings and other events, including supporting presentation preparation
  • Pre-review documents submitted by the staff/consultant and partners for payment such as: travel expenses, meeting/training/workshop expenses, scan and upload the supporting document to share drive.
  • Translate project documents from Vietnamese to English and vice versa as requested
  • Attend meetings and take notes as required
  • Provide other program and administrative support as required.
