Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist, Vietnam Biodiversity Conservation Activity

Winrock is seeking for the Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist for the anticipated Vietnam Biodiversity Conservation activity. This position will be based in Vietnam. The anticipated project will improve the conservation of biodiversity and management of natural resources and critical ecosystems at key sites.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted with additional information on the positions available. These positions do not include expat benefits and require the candidate to be eligible to work in Vietnam without sponsorship from Winrock. Donor-funded project experience required.

Positions are contingent upon receipt of donor funding.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership on gender and coordinate the gender strategy and activities for the project
  • Conduct gender-awareness training sessions and refresher workshops for project staff, focusing on gender-based constraints and opportunities in project areas and in relation to the different resources or livelihood activities
  • Visit site-level activities and selected communities to gain adequate knowledge of potentials/constraints and the work environment to better monitor, support, and supervise gender integration
  • Work with monitoring an evaluation team in the development, application, and monitoring of gender-sensitive indicators and the consistent use of sex disaggregation in reporting to better measure gender-related impacts and outcomes
  • Identify gender-sensitive questions and useful sex disaggregated information in survey questionnaires/formats and provide gender-awareness training for staff who will conduct surveys
  • Collaborate with project specialists to ensure a holistic approach throughout the project on gender issues
  • Develop gender-related skills, tools, and conceptual frameworks to strengthen gender responsiveness and analysis in programming and implementation, using own resources or outside expertise
  • Provide monthly updates, and assist in compiling gender-related highlights and “success stories” for quarterly and annual technical progress reports for donor submission 
  • Prepare annual work plan for gender component

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Five years of professional experience in gender and social inclusion analysis, activities, and monitoring in the context of biodiversity conservation and natural resource management
  • Experience working with Government of Vietnam stakeholders
  • Experience working for international organization or government organization (USAID experience desired)
  • Proven understanding of issues in protected area management and working knowledge of policy/institutional context in protected area management
  • Report writing and data analysis
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and local languages
