Save Vietnam’s Wildlife (SVW) is a national Non-Profit Organisation in Vietnam that has grown from the Carnivore and Pangolin Conservation Program (CPCP) founded in 1995.

Save Vietnam’s Wildlife commits to protecting and increasing populations of threatened wildlife in Vietnam by rescuing threatened animals, protecting entire populations and ensuring secured habitats. We act to identify and select the best solutions which encompass high conservation value, are scientifically based, consider human requirements and empower people to take informed action..

Save Vietnam’s Wildlife is looking a position of Education Officer

Duration: Permanence position

Work place: 30-40% at SVW office, 60-70% of time in the field.

Responsibilities of Field Researcher

The research officer will be involved in all aspects of the SVW (inc. awareness, training, administration, captive management) but will spend most of their time assisting the SVW’s Field Research Program.

  • Design, co-ordinate and conduct field surveys for wildlife in priority areas throughout Vietnam
  • Conduct social surveys to investigate hunting techniques, trade in, and local attitudes towards wildlife
  • Develop and implement training courses’ contents and seminars for rangers and students in Vietnam
  • Carry out literature and museum based research projects to compile reviews on the distribution, status and ecology of SVW priority species.
  • Develop conservation initiatives, based on the results of field research, to improve the conservation of wildlife
  • Use information gained from field research to improve ex-situ conservation techniques.

Professional qualifications

  • BSc/MSc degree in Biology, Conservation, Zoology or related subject
  • Practical experience in field surveys and/or ecological studies
  • Good English language skills, both spoken and written
