Field Project Coordinator

The chosen candidate will coordinate and monitor the implementation of the European Union and IDH-funded project “Scaling Sustainable Production and Trade of Vietnamese Pepper” in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam. The field project coordinator is full-time position based in Dak Lak province working under the direct management of the Spices Program Manager. The selected coordinator will be responsible for implementing project activities at the field level in the targeted provinces and provide strategic advice and management support. Additionally, the candidate will support in the development of new projects within IDH Vietnam’s spices program. In-depth engagement with the project partners and stakeholders and coordination with IDH’s existing Spices and ISLA Landscapes teams in the Central Highlands is also essential.

Your role.

1.    Project Coordination

  • Coordinate the development and implementation of the European Union project in the assigned localities with the support of the Program Manager (PM) and local teams.
  • Help identify and develop projects and activity plans to reach the project goals aligned with the project framework. Ensure proper coordination with other projects in the Central Highlands to avoid overlap in suggested interventions.
  • Manage annual work plan and budget and identify and contract implementing partners.

2.    Stakeholder Management

  • Create awareness and drive the adoption of sustainable practices in pepper production by convening key stakeholders.
  • Gather support, investment, and buy-in from public and private partners in the pepper value chain and national and local governments.

3.    Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Conduct M&E of project activities and financial expenditures with implementing partners. Monitor implementers, contributing organizations, and other third parties delivering project objectives.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the PM.
  • Draft progress reports and thematic reports for the project.

4.    Communication & Learning

  • Contribute to the development of communication materials/publications for the project.
  • Provide input for proposal development.
  • Be responsible for regular communication with associated stakeholders and update with project plans and progress.
  • Facilitate the dissemination of project knowledge to stakeholders in the Central Highlands;
  • Identify and document lessons learned during the project implementation for sharing and dissemination in the sector.

Who you are.

You are an experienced field project coordinator within the sustainable agriculture management field. You combine technical knowledge with facilitation and negotiation skills with an entrepreneurial mindset. You have a solid understanding of the environmental and social sustainability issues in agricultural supply chains, especially in the pepper and/or coffee sector in the Central Highlands region. You are mission-driven.

What you bring.

  • Experience building innovative alliances between international and Vietnamese stakeholders.
  • Possess a passion for and have experience in the agricultural sustainability field.
  • Experience and knowledge of pepper sector improvement programs in Vietnam.
  • A Master’s degree in trade, economics, agriculture, or other relevant fields is preferred.
  • Knowledge of agronomy practices (preferably pepper).
  • Native Vietnamese speaker and writer with English fluency.
  • Willingness to travel extensively in the Central Highlands and other regions 30-40% of your time.

How this position relates to the Spices Program in Vietnam:

  1. The IDH spices program is part of the Business Unit called Food Crops and Ingredients. The spices program in Vietnam aims to improve the efficiency of the pepper value chain and the quality-of-service delivery by farmers for more sustainable pepper cultivation. The spices program seeks to significantly impact the black pepper sector at scale.
  2. Under the IDH Spices Program, the European Union and IDH-funded project “Scaling sustainable production and trade of Vietnamese pepper” aims to support small and medium-sized black pepper enterprises and strengthen the entire supply chain; more sustainable black pepper supply chains allow farmers easier access to markets within the context of the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
