ESL Teacher

ESL Teacher required to teach English in Long Bien District, Hanoi

 Under the Australian Defence Force English Language Project

25 hours/week

Start: 15 January 2017

 

DUTIES STATEMENT:

Duties will include:

  1. instruction on English Language courses at Military Unit 871, Nguyen Van Cu, Long Bien district, Hanoi, and at the Military Medical Academy, Phung Hung, Ha Dong district, Hanoi;

  2. participation in the conduct and administration of courses and workshops;

  3. working as a member in a team;

  4. providing input into the design and development of curricula;

  5. teaching of English as a Second or Other Language (TESOL) course materials and on-line learning materials; and

  6. undertake other associated duties as directed by the Director of Studies (DOS) or the Defence Cooperation Education Officer (DCEO).

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  1. University degree

  2. TESOL/CELTA qualification or equivalent teaching qualification

  3. At least two years of ESL teaching is preferred and beginner teachers need not apply

  4. Native English speaker or IELTS Band 7 for non-native speaking teachers

  5. Be able to meet Vietnamese regulations to obtain a work permit – you must bring your original degree, teaching certificates and police clearance certificate with you

 

PREFERENCES:

1.    Experience in teaching English with reputable organisations

2.     Experience in teaching IELTS (Academic) preparation courses

 

WAGE AND BENEFITS:

  1. USD 34 an hour, 25 hours per week, 40 weeks per year (pay rates reviewed in March)

  2. Teaching adults only

  3. Local costs paid for work permit/visa
