We are looking for committed, result-driven candidate for the position of Development Manager, Dutch Fund for Climate and Development (DFCD) & Resilient Asian Deltas, based in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, is preferred, with a mix of home and office working. Ha Noi is possible. Other locations may be considered in exceptional circumstances. Relocation is not offered for this position.

Major Functions:

WWF’s Resilient Asian Deltas initiative includes the development of a pipeline of ‘bankable’ water projects involving the private sector. These projects need to combine more effective and sustainable business activities with sustainable use, restoration or maintenance of the surrounding environment to ensure long term climate resilience for people and nature. This position will rapidly identify and develop viable bankable projects for inclusion in the DFCD project pipeline.

The position requires a good understanding of the interface between the private sector and the natural environment, an ability to rapidly assess and priorities opportunities using a variety of tools, and the persistence to push them into and through the DFCD pipeline to pilot phase implementation and beyond. A good understanding of the types of financial instruments used to support business growth, including loans, equity, bonds and grants, is essential.

Requirements:

  • An understanding of, and preferably experience of, identifying, prioritizing and building projects that deliver a commercial return while delivering environmental benefits, particularly climate adaptation.
  • An understanding of corporate functioning and business models, preferably in Asia
  • An ability to make quick decisions based on evidence and potential, and to focus on cases with the most likely chance of success
  • A strong relationship builder, preferably with existing networks of contacts in the region
  • Adherence to WWF’s values: Courage, Respect, Integrity and Collaboration.
