Development Coordinator

Position Profile

The Development Coordinator (DC) is based in HCMC, Vietnam and reports directly to the Development Manager. The DC is responsible for coordinating all aspects of fundraising and development activities, from planning to execution and monitoring. Under the direction of the DCD, the Development Coordinator works with members from AIP Foundation’s programs, finance, and monitoring & evaluation teams across different offices to design projects and write proposals in order to secure funding for the organization.

Responsibilities

Strategy development and implementation

  • Remain up-to-date with current fundraising trends; review the strategic fundraising/development environment, assist with setting fundraising priorities for AIP Foundation
  • Conduct research to identify new potential donors
  • Compile profiles of potential funders; develop strategy for approach
  • Draft briefing documents for conference attendance; and support the effective follow-up of leads
  • Proactively work with Country offices and DCD to create new fundraising ideas
  • Maintain an updated development manual

Development of partnerships and identification of funding opportunities

  • Establish an annual calendar of events and conferences; create profiles of potential funders; draft briefing documents for event and conference attendees; and ensure the effective follow-up of leads
  • Assist in research and development of plans to access funding from individuals, corporates, foundations and multi-lateral/bi-lateral aid sources
  • Examine past contributors and identify opportunities for strengthening relationships with past and current donors
  • Coordinate with Business Development Manager to maintain an accurate database of past, current donors, and potential future donors

Proposal development and contract negotiation

  • Prepare presentations to deliver to potential donors and key stakeholders
  • Coordinate with program teams from different countries to design projects
  • Assist country teams to develop effective fundraising ideas and plans
  • Develop and write “award-winning” proposals to potential donors and partners
  • Conduct kick-off meetings to inform relevant departments (Programs, M&E, Communications, and Finance) of their responsibilities related to a grant
  • Ensure that reporting requirements are met to sustain successful partnerships
  • Liaise between donors and AIP Foundation’s Communications team to ensure partners are appropriately acknowledged in AIP Foundation’s communication materials, publications, and websites.

Other

  • Support Programs team for special events, as required
  • Support with English editing for correspondence with selected donors
  • Coordinate donor field visits
  • Provide development updates at bi-monthly office meetings

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in International Development, International Studies, Public Administration or relevant field
  • 2+ years of experience in fundraising, grant writing and partnership development for nonprofit organizations
  • Experience in income generating strategies and capacity to coordinate and implement fundraising strategies
  • Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural, communication and presentation skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English; including demonstrated ability to tailor communications to be effective for a range of audiences and purposes
  • Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and work strategically
  • Ability to be creative and innovative in designing new projects and long-term strategies
