Deputy Chief of Party - Women, Peace, and Security Project

The Kenan Institute Asia (Kenan), a leading not-for-profit development organization headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand that conducts a wide range of economic and social development activities in Southeast Asia (see www.kenan-asia.org), is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Deputy Chief of Party to manage day to day project operations. The project proposes an innovative, integrated approach to building the capacity of CSOs and public agencies serving the needs of women in the fields of health, education, disability and economic development in Hanoi city and Hoa Binh, Vietnam.

The Deputy Chief of Party will be based in Hanoi, with frequently travel to Hoa Binh, and will support the Chief of Party with project implementation and project stakeholder management.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, able to work with limited oversight in a multicultural environment. He/she will have a passion for development with a strong desire to succeed in business development. The ability to multi-task, meet client demands and deadlines, as well as prioritize among competing priorities are also essential skills for the successful candidate.

Overall responsibility:

Responsible for coordinating with the project partners, project personnel, and beneficiaries to carry out project activities, providing capacity building training, reporting, administration and logistic arrangements required for training, forums and consulting assignments, supporting monitoring and financial management, and participating in project technical developments and activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project activities and work closely with the stakeholders in planning and implementing activities as approved.
  • Coordinate and work on day-to-day tasks to implement and monitor project progress and completion.
  • Oversee project administration and logistic arrangements.
  • Support and manage the project’s expenses.
  • Support project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Establish, develop, and manage partnerships, and provide support and capacity building to stakeholders.
  • Compile documents and reports.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Degree in business administration, development, or a related development-focused fields; Advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years working experiences in development, building capacity management, and CSO development.
  • Experience working with CSOs, government counterparts, and community members.
  • Knowledge of gender equality, women’s issues, and CSOs working in Vietnam.
  • Relevant experiences in project consulting and management.
  • Excellent English and Vietnamese communication skills.

Compensation: US$1,000 to 1,500 per month (based on relevant work experience).
