Consultant to Write a Policy Paper on the Contributions of Migrant Domestic Workers to Sustainable Development

UN Women is looking for a consultant to develop a policy paper that will act as a backgrounder and issues paper that will highlight the protection needs and concerns of migrant domestic workers, especially women, and to assess their contributions to economic, social, and cultural, contributions to sustainable development. The policy paper will support the objectives of the high-level meeting, including to:

· share good practices on labour and social protections for migrant domestic workers;

· implement the gender-sensitive checklist for migration, labour and trafficking laws including recognizing domestic work and enforcing employment contracts;

· develop strategies to implement good practices on social protection for migrant domestic workers; and

· take concrete steps to harness the economic, social, and cultural contributions of migrant domestic workers towards sustainable development, in countries of origin and destination.

Duration:  22 working days (during September 2012)
