Consultant for Site Inspection and Monitor Installation of Solar Water Heating System in Lao Cai

We are looking for a consultant to perform consultancy services for:

  • Vacancy: consultant for the site inspection and monitoring of the installation of solar water heating systems in the target schools in Lao Cai province.
  • Based in Lao Cai

Main Responsibilities:

The consultant will need to complete the following tasks:

3.1    Conduct site inspection in the 16 target schools to ensure that the sites suggested by the schools are technically suitable to install the solar water heating system of specific capacity. Information to be identified includes, but not limited to, the followings:

  • The technical requirements for the water heating system
  • The material of the roof (tiles, cement or metal) and the area of the roof (how many square meters), whether it is strong enough and can ensure the safety for the users
  • The usability of the existing water tanks (if any)
  • How far from water tank to bathrooms or toilets (water using place)
  • The capacity of the water pump needed
  • The capacity of the existing pump and whether it works well for the solar heater system or not
  • The requirements for accessories and taps (how many/what kind of taps: separate hot and cold taps, or a warm taps)
  • The power backup system (especially in the winter) is required or not, how to connect with the power supply
  • Requirements for the filter system (if needed)

3.2    Conduct monitoring during the installation of solar water systems in the target schools to ensure that the systems are installed properly and follow all requirements of safety and security.

The list of schools included in this consultancy work is detailed in the Annex 1 of the SOW.

Key Competencies:

  • University degree in a relevant discipline, e.g. construction and engineering
  • Experience in site inspection and monitoring of installation of solar water heating system
  • Experience on similar work in Lao Cai context
