Vacancy: Consultant Engineer for Construction Related Activities in Schools

Main Responsibilities:The local engineering consultant is expected to work in coordination with SCI’s ARO Shelter and Construction Advisor to address technical and construction management issues and SCI’s RO Supply Chain team to build the technical capacity of our staff on procurement related activities for schools and improve our procedures to ensure compliance with SCI Procurement Manual and SCI Construction Policy, Benchmark Standards and Tools, thereby ensuring improvements in the quality of our construction works.

Key Competencies:

Essential

  • A registered Engineer/Architect (educated to Masters level) with at least 5 years post qualification experience providing consultancy services in design, specification, construction project management and construction procurement activities

  • Previous experience in directing construction projects from concept through to construction phase

  • Relevant experience relative to assessment of construction quality against National standards or International best practice, whichever takes precedence

  • Familiarity with Government/Ministry (local and National) procedures and standards in Vietnam

  • Experience in delivering training

  • Strong organization and management skills required

  • Proven strategic thinker, experience with participatory approaches for multiple stakeholders and strong analytical skills

  • Proven communication and writing skills, including relevant reports in both English and  Vietnamese

  • Experience in working with NGO/Donor organisations desirable
