1. Background on Save the Children

Save the Children is the leading global independent organisation for children. Save the Children believes every child deserves a future. Around the world, we work every day to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. When crisis strikes, and children are most vulnerable, we are always among the first to respond and the last to leave. We ensure children’s unique needs are met and their voices are heard. We deliver lasting results for millions of children, including those hardest to reach.

Save the Children develops and documents an approach to improve mental health and resilience of vulnerable children and their parents in Tieng Giang province from Nov 2021- Apr 2022:

  • Increase of resilience and adaptive capacity of vulnerable children, parents and teachers on mental health and psychological problem to support prolonged home-based online learning
  • Improve Risk Communication & Community Engagement (RCCE) activities of COVID-19 prevention measures for vulnerable parents & children

Then, it will advocate adaptation of the pilot model to provincial and central levels for replication across Vietnam.

This project will therefore directly target primary school students, their parents and teachers in a pilot that will result in replication of materials and learning from this model in other parts of the country for wider impact as the pandemic continues to evolve in Tien Giang particularly and Mekong Delta region generally while providing emergency relief to those families with children affected by COVID 19.
