Consultant to Conduct Formative Study and Baseline Survey

We are looking for a Vietnamese national for:

  • Vacancy: Consultant to Conduct Formative Study and Baseline Survey
  • Based in: Hanoi, Hai Phong

Main Responsibilities:

The consultant will conduct a formative study and prepare a complete study proposal based on the formative study’s results for the project “Improving access to and utilization of adolescent responsive health services for urban migrant young women and girls in Hai Phong city, Vietnam”

1.    The formative study:

  • A desktop review of Hai Phong partners’ secondary data on RH and MCH.
  • Conduct Focused Group Discussions (FGDs) and In-depth Interviews (IDIs) with key informants to collect necessary information to relevantly design indicators for a baseline survey.

2.    The baseline survey:

  • Review formative study results, finalize baseline study questions and draft study design, obtaining inputs from SC staff.  
  • Study design which will enable the measurement of the different variables and indicators required.
  • Modes of data collection to be conducted.
  • Methods of selecting respondents for each mode of data collection to be implemented, including a detailed description of the sampling design to be used, if applicable.
  • Sample size computation (if applicable).
  • Data collection tools.
  • Data quality control mechanisms to be implemented.
  • Methods of data processing and storage, including a description of software’s to be used.
  • Plans for data analysis, including dummy tables corresponding to each study objective.
  • Proposed timetable of activities.
  • Logistics and staffing.
  • Detailed budget estimate.

Key Competencies:

  • Postgraduate degree in Medicine, Public Health or Social Science. Experience in Gynecology, Obstetrics and/or Pediatric is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in conducting studies in health projects (including qualitative and quantitative methods).
  • Proved experience in conducting situation analysis
  • Proved experience in conducting   household surveys.
  • High English proficiency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, data analysis software (SPSS, STATA, EPIDATA…).

Duration:

The tentative duration for the study from April to May 2019. The detail of time line for each activity will be developed between SC and Consultant.
