RECRUITMENT FOR COMMUNITY CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Good Neighbors is an international, non-profit humanitarian organization that plans, implements and raises funds for the provision of services in child education, community development, health, sanitation, and disaster relief projects. Currently Good Neighbors has been operating in 37 countries, supporting approximately 17 million people, including about 10 million children.

Good Neighbors International in Vietnam (GNI) is implementing Community Development Projects (CDP) based on child sponsorship in 3 provinces; Tuyen Quang, Hoa Binh, and Thanh Hoa. GNI is working in main areas as child sponsorship and education, water and sanitation, income generation, etc. in 9 CDPs and is managing about 10,000 sponsored children.

2. MAIN DUTIES

1. Child education development:

  • Make survey of current teaching and learning status and educational conditions in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in locality to determine the need of the schools and support facilities and capacity building;

  • Collaborate with schools, Community Development Committee (CDC) to draw up proposal and implement suitable supports to meet the needs of above-mentioned schools;

  • Directly build up and implement activities for the Learner-centered Approach Program, Youth Development Clubs, Reading Enrichment Programs, Career Pathfinders, etc.

  • Regularly monitor, supervise and promote activities of Youth Development Clubs, Reading Enrichment Programs, Career Pathfinders, …

  • Regularly observe class, monitor the application of learner-centered teaching program in sponsored schools;

  • Proactively introduce and develop the program.

2. Community development:

  • Conduct survey on economical-social conditions, problems and resources for development in locality; design suitable development program;

  • Collaborate with CDC to establish Village Development Committee to implement development activities in village, hamlet, commune;

  • Provide consultancy and support CDC to build up development plan in village regarding culture, education, health, water – sanitation and environment;

  • Collaborate with CDC to draw up activity proposal;

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement approved community development activities to meet the deadline and quality;

  • Directly and regularly monitor, check implementation process of above-mentioned in village, hamlet, commune;

  • Give technical advices to schools, clubs, CDC on request to improve program’s efficiency; timely inform to address difficulties for stakeholders during implementing program;

  • Develop relationship between GNI and partners; promote participation of community’s members and local authorities relating to community development;

  • Take responsibility on quality and work process of above-mentioned activities in locality;

  • Organize efficient periodical appraisal of above-mentioned education and community development programs;

  • Support other division to conduct any tasks assigned by Managers.

3. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education: Bachelor degree in Education, Social Works or other related field

Work experience:

  • At least 01 year of working experience in related fields.

  • Be experienced in conducting research, analysis

  • Experience and skills of project management, including planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and partnership;

  • Experience in working independently and with the team;

  • Experience in community development or with NGO

Skills

  • Ability to work independently and work with the team;

  • Ability to work under pressure;

  • Good organizing skills and interpersonal skills;

  • Good skill in computer use: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email

  • Basic English skill.

  • Sociable, responsive, committed working with GNI at least 01 year.
