Position Title: Communications & Knowledge Management Specialist
Location: Hanoi
Period of Assignment: One-year contract (with possibility for extension)
Reporting To: Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Research Manager

CowaterSogema is recruiting a Communications & Knowledge Management professional to support the Aus4Equality|Gender Responsive Equitable Agriculture and Tourism (GREAT) Program. The GREAT Program is a flagship initiative of the Australian aid program in Vietnam – it commenced in November 2017 and will run for five years (2017 to 2021). The Program seeks to promote women’s economic empowerment (WEE) in the ethnically diverse north-west region of Vietnam.

Statement of Duty:

Reporting to the Manager, Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning, the Communications & Knowledge Management Specialist will support GREAT’s knowledge management and communications objectives. This includes developing and implementing the annual Communications and Knowledge Management Plan, maintaining a quarterly editorial calendar and managing GREAT’s website and social media platforms.

The role will also involve working with media to generate positive coverage of the Program, preparing high quality communications material and capturing information from partners/stakeholders for knowledge products and communications activities. In addition, the Communications & Knowledge Management Specialist will support joint-learning activities and networking events and ensure partners understand and conform with DFAT branding guidelines.

Specific Duties:

  • Develop an annual Communications and Knowledge Management Plan in conjunction with the Team Leader, the Manager, Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning and technical teams. This includes systems for capturing, organising and disseminating information and learning to all stakeholders and the public.
  • Maintain a quarterly editorial calendar to help strategically guide all communications.
  • Manage the Aus4Equality|GREAT website as well as the communications module on the Program’s Management Information System.
  • Actively create content and manage Aus4Equality|GREAT social media platforms.
  • Support partners communications activities as required and ensure partners understand and conform with DFAT branding guidelines.
  • Produce a quarterly electronic newsletter to update stakeholders on the Program’s activities and achievements.
  • Develop high quality communications material, including brochures, videos, project reports, case studies and factsheets.
  • Develop a “knowledge tank’ to capture relevant global studies and reports that can inform the Program.
  • Proactively engage and support media to generate positive coverage of the Program.
  • Capture information from partners/stakeholders for knowledge products and communications activities.
  • Manage interactive joint-learning activities, networking events and thematic workshops as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years directly relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of communications and knowledge management principles.
  • Experience using graphic design software such as InDesign.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Vietnamese and English.
  • Experience in establishing and managing relations with media.
  • Experience managing social media, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Ability to manage multiple demands and prioritise tasks, work effectively and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, and support other team members as
  • needed.
  • Enthusiasm, commitment to learning, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • University degree in Communications, Journalism or a related field.
  • An understanding of gender and women’s economic empowerment is an advantage.
