The Woolcock Institute of Medical Research is affiliated with the University of Sydney in Australia and is recognized as one of the leading research institutions for respiratory diseases and sleep disorders. Operating in Vietnam since 2009, we have undertaken large operational, epidemiological and clinical research projects and run training in epidemiological and operational research methods for Vietnamese doctors and public health workers. The Woolcock Institute has three research centres and offices in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City and Ca Mau. Currently we directly employ about 50 full-time staff and coordinates multiple study projects within lung health management and treatment across eleven provinces.

A core team of the Woolcock is working with the Sydney Vietnam Initiative - a collaboration of multi-disciplinary researchers who seek to expand the lives of communities and individuals in Vietnam via education and research.

Work location: Hanoi, and with possibility of domestic travel

Duration: 12 months appointment, with consideration for subsequent extension. This position will be on full time basis and begin as soon as possible

Direct report
Operation Manager, and through this person to the Country Director and the Principal Investigator.

Roles
The position will include maintaining communication channels for current research studies, and building new relationships, organising meetings and helping with documentation required for relevant projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support to maintain and develop social media channels for Woolcock Institute and studies
  • Prepare and distribute press releases
  • Support to edit and update promotional material and publications
  • Managing submissions to Government departments for registration and reporting for specific projects
  • Developing procedures and policies relevant to management of research and governance in Vietnam
  • Facilitating meetings and workshops with partners
  • Organising visits for international visitors involved in research or education
  • Supporting to organize public events and webinars, including media management
  • Seek opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising
  • Contributing to solve marketing and communications issues

Key attributes:

  • Proven experience in Communications and public relations
  • Experienced in researching, writing and editing publications
  • Strong experiences in general administrative work
  • Strong communication ability (oral and written)
  • Proficient in MS Office and social media
  • Familiarity with project management software and video/photo editing is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Creativity and problem-solving aptitude
  • BSc/BA in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or a related field
