Communication & Reporting Officer

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) promotes the humanitarian activities of RC/RC National Societies among vulnerable people.
By coordinating international disaster relief and encouraging development support it seeks to prevent and alleviate human suffering.
The International Federation, the National Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross together constitute the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

IFRC Delegation in Viet Nam is seeking a highly qualified Vietnamese National for the position of:

COMMUNICATION & REPORTING OFFICER

Major responsibilities:

Assist and support the delegation to

- Translate for Head of Delegation.
- Draft letters, grant applications, funding proposals and reports to donors.
- Establish an effective reporting and reports tracking system for all the delegation operations.
- Produce accurate, regular and timely narrative reports all the delegation operations.
- Monitor deadlines and also ensure that reporting requirements (frequency, quality, capacity and timeliness) for all running activities have been planned and agreed upon.
- Coordinate with regional/zone communication/reporting staff to promote better use of statistics, maps, photos etc, in reports and updates for the all operations in Vietnam.
- Maintain good communications and liaison with VNRC staff and volunteers to ensure that delegation reports incorporate accurate and relevant information from them.
- Produce stories and other external communication material for various outlets, such as IFRC website, newspapers etc.
- Maintain a working relationship with various Hanoi based international journalists and key national media contacts.
- Promote work of the VNRC, IFRC and other PNS present in the country.

Assist and support the VNRC to:

- Improve their knowledge of various stakeholders/donors requirements, standards and procedures related to grant management.
- Provide advice and coaching to various departments and ensure consistency and quality control on the grants and related reports administered by them.
- Support international department in developing develop a grants management unit and deliver on their mandate effectively.
- Strengthen its planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting capacity through on/off-the-job training’s.
- Improve the capacities of their communication department. 

Key Qualifications and skills:

- Relevant university degree or equivalent in development or social, economic studies, foreign languages
- At least three years of relevant working experience in International Organisations or diplomatic missions.
- Proficiency in the English and Vietnamese languages, both oral and written.
- Proactive, responsible with an eye for details.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment/team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the humanitarian sector is an advantage.
