Chief of Party

Chemonics International, a Washington D.C.-based international development firm, seeks experienced chief of party candidates for the anticipated USAID funded Vietnam Clean Energy Program. Based in Hanoi, this 5-year program will support clean energy development in Vietnam as a key part of comprehensive efforts to promote low carbon economic development. The program will support the Government of Vietnam for the design of its Low Emission Development Strategy and support increased use of renewable energy technologies and energy efficient practices. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:
- Providing overall project leadership, management, and technical direction;
- Serving as key liaison with USAID, government counterparts, and local partners;
- Managing and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors;
- Ensuring that all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate;
- Collaboratively creating and implementing a strategic, long-term programmatic vision; and
- Overseeing project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications

Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in engineering, natural resource management, environmental science, clean energy and carbon finance, or other related field required;
- Minimum 10 years of professional development experience in and knowledge of relevant technical areas, including: clean energy development, carbon markets, global climate change, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and environmental governance.
- Minimum 5 years of experience serving as COP on a USAID or other donor-funded project.
- Exceptional technical experience working with alternative energy sources and innovative clean energy projects focusing on energy efficiency and renewable energy.
- Knowledge of Vietnam’s energy policies, laws, institutions and management issues.
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Srong interpersonal skills and exceptional written and oral language skills, fluency in English
