FFI-Vietnam Programme is now seeking for a Biodiversity Conservatin Expert to work in Kon Tum

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Position title:            Biodiversity Conservation Expert   
Report to:                National Project Manager
Location:                  Based in Kon Tum with frequent travel to project site in   Kon Plong
Duration of Contract:   Two years
Probation:                 Three months

Background
As part of efforts to support the country’s commitment to mitigate climate change, improved livelihoods and conserve forest and biodiversity, FFI is implementing EU funded programme entitled “Developing community carbon pools for Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation, plus enhancing forest carbon stocks (REDD+) projects in selected ASEAN countries”.
In Vietnam, the Community Carbon Pool Project is located in Kon Plong District, Kon Tum Province.

Main Duties
Under the supervision of National Project Manager, Biodiversity Conservation Expert will:

Technical advice
1) Lead the biodiversity assessment, planning, and monitoring; and provide assistance in forest inventory.
2) Perform the duties and functions of a Team Leader during biological surveys and forest resource assessments
3) Ensure that activities and methodologies are compliant with the guidelines set by the existing standards on REDD+ projects.
4) Lead the development of work plans, identify and secure logistical requirements of the project for the biodiversity assessments.
5) Provide technical assistance in policy developments relevant to biodiversity conservation under the national REDD+ framework.
6) Report on technical aspects of the project and provide the required technical assistance.
7) Provide technical advice and assistance in the organization of project events.
8) Provide advice in strategic planning for project coordination and implementation so as to achieve the project objectives, including the proper planning of workflow and efficient utilization of project resources.
9) Actively liaise with project personnel, including consultants/experts, on matters pertaining to the implementation of the project interventions.
10) Support the works of consultants and sub-contractors and sub-grantees, and provide technical input where appropriate.
11) Represents FFI, as authorized by the Country Director/Programme Managers, in relevant fora on REDD+ and community forestry.

Others
1) Supervision, monitoring, and reporting of the projects.
2) Build and maintain good relationships with partners in the implementation of project activities.
3) Ensure good financial and administrative management of the field works.
4) Other tasks that may be asked by supervisors.

Requirements
1) Hold a degree of Bachelor or equivalent training or experience in forestry, biology or a related discipline. Postgraduate degree (master) preferred.
2) At least 05 years working experiences in biological inventory, biodiversity assessment and conservation planning in particular the REDD+ Pilot area.
3) In-depth knowledge and experiences in Community based Biodiversity Conservation approach.
4) Excellent writing and communication skills in Vietnamese and English.
