Agent Orange Working Group meeting

This is regular meeting of Agent Orange Working Group. The detail will be as following:

LOCATION        NGO Resource Centre Trung Tu Diplomatic Compound, Building E3, Room 201, N0 6 Dang Van Ngu, Dong Da, Hanoi

The main focus will be a very informative presentation by Ms. Tran Thi Tuyet Hanh, MPH, BSc. and Lecturer  at  the Environmental Health Department, Hanoi School of Public Health.  Ms. Hanh is completing her PhD ?from Queensland University of Technology in Australia

The presentation is entitled: Environmental Health Risk Assessment of Dioxin Hot Spots in Vietnam.  The presentation reviews extensive research that Ms. Hanh and her colleagues conducted and their assessments regarding health risks of dioxin exposure for local residents living in Bien Hoa and Da Nang hot spots. The research included household surveys of food handling and practices, samples of common foods consumed, interviews and secondary data on levels of dioxin found.  Analysis was by the Vietnam Dioxin Laboratory using high resolution gas chromatography coupled with high resolution mass spectrometry. The results of the research, for example findings of the environmental and health risks to the local population, will be explained and discussed in the Q&A following Ms. Hanh's presentation.

Attendees please be prepared to share any developments and new information thus far in calendar year 2015 related to the dioxin cleanup project at the Danang Airport, funding or other initiatives currently in progress such as USAID's APS for disability programs, and related political or public policy developments that may impact Agent Orange and dioxin issues.
