Workshop on Strengthening cooperation between the Government and non-governmental organizations to respond to climate change

To mobilize all sources in the fight against climate change, the cooperation between the Government’s agencies and non-governmental organizations has increasingly played an important role. As such, under the instruction of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Association (VUSTA) and within the frame of the project Capacity building on Climate change for Civil Society Organisations, the VNGO&CC network organized a workshop on Strengthening cooperation between the Government and non-governmental organizations to respond to climate change in collaboration with Vietnam River Network (VRN).
The workshop aimed at strengthening the cooperation between the Government and non-governmental organizations in the implementation of activities to cope with climate change on the basis of unified principles and cooperative mechanism and then, developing detailed plan for cooperation in 2010.
Participants included representatives from all central ministries, specifically Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Industry and Trade, representatives from non-governmental organizations of Hanoi, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa, Ha Giang, Hue, Can Tho, representatives from international organizations, for example Embassy of Finland, Global Environment Facility (GEF), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), CARE, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Catholic Relief Services (CRS), other member organizations of the two networks of VNGO&CC and VRN, scientists and researchers in the field of climate change.
At the workshop, representatives from non-governmental organizations and officers of state agencies have exchanged experiences in activities responding to climate change which member organizations of the two above-mentioned networks are now carrying out. Proposal on cooperation and collaboration with state agencies was raised by representatives from non-governmental organizations
