Wood Control System Project Assistant (PA)

The Forest Trust - International Non-Profit Organization is seeking a candidate for a full time position for Wood Control System Project in Vietnam. The project aims to work with the entire forest product supply chain – from the forest to the consumer through its three types of members:  Producing, Supplying and Buying members. The organization works by linking timber Producing members committed to achieving FSC certification to Supplying members that manufacture and/or trade in wood products sold to Buying members committed to purchasing products from responsible suppliers.
The Wood Control System Project Assistant (PA) The PA will work closely with the WCS Project coordinator and the Viet Nam Representative to:

1. Evaluate wood purchasing and use policies of manufacturers selling to the organization’s members to ensure that manufacturers comply with wood use policies (WCS – Wood Control System)
a. Identify source and evaluate legality of wood products being utilized by manufacturers selling to the organization’s members
b. Evaluate factory chain-of-custody systems’ ability to track wood products from raw materials to finished products
2. Communicate the organization’s objectives and activities
a. Identify and build collaborative relationships with relevant government agencies, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, and consultants
b. Develop materials describing the organization’s forestry and wood control system programs for potential and current members, government and non-government organizations, and other stakeholders
3. Translations Support to Vietnam Program if required.

Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Masters Degree in Statistics, Research, Forestry  or other relevant field.
- At least 3-5 years of professional experience in monitoring & evaluation, data management, report writing, research, or other relevant work is required
- Computer literacy incl. word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and statistical analysis programs.
- High level of English proficiency.
