The Technical Working Group
The Ho Chi Minh City based HIV/AIDS Technical Working Group (HCMC HIV TWG) brings together HIV programme implementers, advocates, and other stakeholders based in the South of Vietnam. It provides a platform whereby these organisations and individuals can coordinate, share resources, identify gaps and build partnerships for enhanced programming and advocacy.
The HCMC HIV TWG is one of the nine subgroups of the HIV/AIDS TWG based in Hanoi, providing geographic representation and perspective to this larger group. It is also a thematic member group of the HCMC International Non-Government Organisation Discussion Group (HCMC INGO Discussion Group) and therefore forms part of the platform of groups working to improve coordination between different sectors within HCMC.
The group meets at a frequency of once every 2-3 months. In 2010 there will be a greater shift towards using the group’s meetings as a space for capacity building of members. Several meetings will run as seminars, with external experts and facilitators running capacity building workshops.

Role description :
Reporting to the TWG Chair, you will be responsible for the planning and coordination of TWG meetings and workshops, including logistics, organizing presenters as well as preparatory and follow up documentation. You will conduct fundraising activities and endeavor to improve awareness of the group for other stakeholders in Southern Vietnam. You will be responsible for the TWG’s external reporting requirements, and preparation, documentation and dissemination of information about the groups’ activities and meetings.

Tasks and responsibilities
- Organize bi-monthly meetings, by assisting Chair with topic development and selection, and inviting and liaising with meeting presenters/facilitators
- Secure meeting presentations and background information
- Prepare meeting agendas, minutes and participant lists
- Carry out meeting logistical arrangements
- Prepare and forward relevant information to UNAIDS for website posting
- Post relevant information on VUFO NGO Resource Centre website
- Work with the group to initiate, develop and carry out fundraising activities
- Prepare briefing reports to be submitted to Hanoi TWG
- Facilitate formulation of group’s annual plan
- Attend TWG meetings
- Maintain and moderate electronic list-serve
- Improve awareness of the group among local and international organizations and other stakeholders in Southern Vietnam

Skills & Experience
- Ability to work independently and without supervision
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Sound computer skills – including internet and email
- Experience in marketing and fundraising
- Experience in planning and coordinating group events or workshops
- Proven ability to develop engaging workshops and themes
- Previous work experience in Vietnam (preferable)
- Background in HIV/AIDS or public health (Preferable)

The details
This a Part-time Volunteer position (approximately 10 hours per week) with a minimum of 6 months commitment. The position is open to Vietnamese nationals and internationals. You MUST have access to the internet and your own computer.

Interviews will be conducted in mid December. The role will commence 5 January 2010.
